The Maldivian language is Dhivehi, the official language of the Maldives. Dhivehi is an Indo-Aryan language and belongs to the Indic group of the Indo-Iranian branch of the Indo-European language family. It is written in the Thaana script, an alphabetic writing system unique to Dhivehi.
